Financial tracking with Tiller is something I’ve been doing since 2019.
It gives me peace of mind knowing that I have control over my transaction data in a spreadsheet rather than proprietary software like Quicken.
Although you can budget and track your finance with pen and paper, having the transactions from your important accounts pulled in and organized with software is more time-effective.
Pulling transactions into Tiller used to be a two-step process
What Tiller does on our behalf is impressive. It’s no easy feat to pull in data from thousands of disparate financial institutions.
Up until recently, updating accounts was a two-step process:
- Pull transaction data from the financial institutions (some of this could be automatic)
- Integrate the pulled data with the spreadsheets
It wasn’t a particulary difficult process, but it still meant clicking on a tool inside the Google spreadsheet to import everything.
Now the second step isn’t necessary
It might be a little thing, but now the data integration happens without action on my part.
Each time I log in to check my transactions, I can get to work a few minutes faster.
In fact, when I try to go do things “the old way,” it reminds me that I don’t have to! Old habits die hard, I guess.
Lots to look forward to with Tiller
The team at Tiller regularly looks for ways to make the data import easier and more complete!
