Merry Christmas!  We're at my wife's parents today celebrating Jesus's birthday.

If you've had a lot of snow (as we have) here's a quick treat if you have some (real) maple syrup around and a candy thermometer:

  1. Collect some snow in a bowl.  (Make sure the snow is all right, meaning that it's all white.)
  2. Bring some maple syrup up to the “softball” temperature, 230 degrees F.
  3. Spoon out the hot syrup (without stirring) and drizzle it onto the snow.
  4. Pull the little bits off of cooled syrup off of the snow, and enjoy!
