Comment Policy

You're encouraged to leave comments on this blog. I don't respond to all comments but I will read them all.

I understand that you may be wanting to promote your site as you leave a comment. I have no problem with this — I do it, too! — but to tame the beast a bit and to head off blatant abuse at the pass, I've developed some guidelines for posting comments here. Depending on what kind of mood I'm in, I may either edit your comment to meet the guidelines, or just delete it. I may also choose to send it to spam, which would put at risk your commenting not only on this blog, but on other blogs as well. I reserve the right to edit, delete, or send to spam any comment, at any time, for any reason.

However, if you follow these guidelines, I'll likely have no problem with your comment and will be happy to have it:

Use a name or screen name in the “Name” section — not a keyword. I'm interested in seeing comments from people, not from “organic seo rankings” or “discount poreclain figurine.”
Contribute to the discussion. Use your comment to respond to the post or another comment on that post. Don't just write something generic or make a quick transition to what you want to promote.
Do not deep-link to your site. Link to your home page only (or a major subsection of your site). Don't link to a sales page or a deep internal page.
Do not include personal information in your comment. E-mail addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, etc.
Please don't repeat your website URL in the comment. You may use the URL box, and the software will make your name a hyperlink to your site. Don't be greedy.
Keep your links and comments clean. I am the sole judge of what's clean.
Avoid ad hominem attacks. Attack ideas, but do not attack people.
Avoid illegal, immoral, hate-filled, or violent speech.
