Reader's Digest (eBay) had an article in its May, 2007, issue entitled New Ways to Make a Bundle. I'm a big fan of supplementing one's income in one's “spare time” because a good way to save more, and thus get on more financially sound footing, is to earn more. Earning more on a side business is a good move because it diversifies your revenue streams and makes you more marketable and able to earn.
The second tip is Lend Assistance. As in performing a service that allows someone else to do what they do best.
I'm not to the point in any of my endeavors yet that I can afford to bring someone else on staff to go through the daily grind of bookkeeping, order fulfillment, public relations, transcription, and even web design. But man, would it be nice — and the lucky person could do it from his or her own home! If you're detail oriented, then this money maker can be lucrative. Websites like the Virtual Assistant Networking Association and the International Association of Virtual Office Assistants and the International Virtual Assistants Association are good places to start looking into this field. I'd definitely start here before paying for advice or a “work-at-home” program. The “do medical transcription from home” courses are likely scams, but the organizations linked above have some clout.
