My wife is very clever. She put together a very functional corner desk for our third bedroom, which functions as her sewing room and our office. It's easy to take down if we need the extra space, and cost us nothing.
And no, it's not made out of FedEx boxes.
We spend a lot of time in our office together working on our own projects. A few years ago we got matching computer desk corner units from IKEA. Here's mine. (And of course it's always that neat!) It gives me a small amount of desk space, but not a whole lot, and I can't really use the desk for much anyway, because it's a tad high for working on.
But now, I just spin around in my Steelcase chair that I got for $30 at a yard sale, to this:
One of the two tables is a blue folding table I got at a yard sale. The other is a wooden table with wheels that I got from my grandfather's house a while back. The folding table is just slightly taller than the wooden one, so they fit together nicely without a gap. They're the right height for writing or reading, and they're sturdy enough that I can put a normal amount of weight on them. (I can't dance on them, but then again, I'm not Christopher Walken, either.)
What clever new uses have you found for old things in your house?
Excellent desk. Excellent reuse and as you said if you have to move it you can!
$30 for a REAL steelcase chair? Now THAT is a bargain!!! Way to go. Ok, I’m confused – do you still have the corner Ikea desks or are you selling them in effort to save more space w/these folding tables instead?
