Adding Swagbucks Magic Receipts to my Receipt App Stack

It serves a couple of purposes

There are several apps that give you cash back for scanning your grocery receipts.

It turns out that you can stack receipt rewards by scanning the same receipt in all of the apps.

Swagbucks Magic Receipts is going on the stack

I don't do a lot of get-paid-to sites anymore, but I keep Swagbucks around because (a) it's one of the more lively ones and (b) I have some referral income continuing to come in from it.

One way to earn SB (their in-app currency that can be converted to gift cards) is by submitting receipts in their Magic Receipts service.

I can submit receipts either through the website on my desktop by uploading a picture of the receipt, or by snapping a picture and submitting it through the Swagbucks app.

I started using Magic Receipts for a couple of reasons.

1. Some of the rewards were attractive

Some grocery receipt apps like Ibotta will offer “any item” rewards. Because these rewards aren't tied to a particular brand, they're often small rewards.

A couple of the “any item” rewards through Magic Receipts were substantial, like 50 cents each.

That may not seem like a lot but they're much bigger than other apps offer. A dollar back just for buying bananas and eggs? Yes, please!

2. Magic Receipts unlocks SB for search for 60 days now

I'll often use Swagbucks and other similar sites to search for the possibility of a reward.

Swagbucks recently made its search service an “unlock” feature for doing other activities on the site.

Submitting a Magic Receipt with sponsored offers now unlocks SB for Search rewards for 60 days, which is worth it.

Periodically scanning receipts for some extra cash

It takes me about 15 minutes or so to scan the receipt in all of the apps.

It's not something I do every time, and I don't really try to squeeze every cent I can out of each receipt, because searching the offers can take a bit of time also.

But scanning receipts to earn a little money, and promoting them occasionally for referrals, builds up some cash over time.

It's a fair return for the time invested.
