Still plugging away
A “mini-game” complements your main game by providing variety and a secondary focus.
My main goal is working on Medium Partner Program income, but I'm also working toward qualifying for the YouTube Partner Program with my channel.
My work on the channel gives me material to bring here, which works directly toward my primary goal.
Three videos uploaded since 8/11/2024
Since the last update, I've added two regular videos and one short. (A bit of an uptick from just two shorts over the previous month!)
Both of the regular videos are “treasure hunt” videos of fifty $1 bills. Instead of just staying silent for most of the time during these videos, I've come to talk on a topic.
The first one deals with whether to hunt for bills, or simply buy them:
The other is a response to a viewer comment asking about what I do with all of the $1s that have normal serial numbers:
And finally, the short gives an example of a ZIP code bill, a bit of a novelty!
Developing good relationships with other YouTubers
I've subscribed to several channels that talk about currency, and support them.
I have a free version of a Chrome extension that allows me to group my currency-collecting colleagues' channels and check them all out in a targeted feed.
We each comment and respond quickly to each other's videos, which is a good sign!
Monetization eligibility
I currently have 646 subscribers, up 5 from the previous update last week. I need 1,000 subscribers minimum.
I'm up to 663 public watch hours over the past 12 months, up 6 from the previous week. I need 4,000 minimum on regular videos. (People watching Shorts don't count toward the 4,000 hours.)
I had upticks in both stats, which is in the right direction!
I get some “residual” watching with each video, about 1.5 hours per month, per video. This starts to add up. That, and more subscribers should increase the watch time for new videos that come out.
Channels grow one view, one subscriber, one like, one share at a time.
My strategy going forward
My strategy for increasing these numbers continues to be:
- Post new videos.
- Develop relationships with other similar channels.
- Respond to comments without fail.
- Cross-promote videos on my other online properties.
