Business is cyclical. Here are the best things to buy in April …

There are good deals to be found year round for just about anything. However, it's the nature of business that a lot of deals happen at the same time during the year.
Best things to buy in April
Here are things that you can find good deals on in April:
- Electronics. Again. The end of Japan's financial or fiscal year is now, so that brings out its own deals on electronics. It seems there's always a good reason to have a sale on electronics! Digital cameras are also good for deals now.
- Kitchen accessories. Graduation is just around the corner (May or June), so it's out of the dining hall and into an apartment for some adulting. They don't check for student ID when buying, so … good for us who are already adulting, right?
- Running shoes and sneakers. With the weather getting nicer, there are more opportunities to get outdoors and get active. Retailers know this, and they'll be keeping pace with some great deals for you.
- Cruises. We're not cruise people but this time of year is typically slow for cruises (except for maybe spring break) since the weather is actually starting to get nice. Caribbean islands are driest in December through April so even though it may not be the absolute cheapest, there's less chance of getting rained out, which would suck.
- Thrift store items, even cheaper. Thrift store inventory benefits from spring cleaning, much like it benefits from end-of-year tax write-off time. More inventory means that they need to lower prices in order to move it and make room for fresh stuff.
- Vacuum cleaners. Speaking of spring cleaning … yeah, vacuum cleaners. Last year's models will be on the move-out, and I have it on good authority that last year's models of vacuum cleaners were designed to pull up dust and debris just like this year's models. (In fact, they may actually do it better than this year's, if Energy Star ratings have anything to do with it!)
- Winter apparel that just won't move. There's probably a reason some winter apparel hasn't moved, but if it's still around, it's an eyesore for the store and they will let it go for a song.
- Snowblowers. Stores are still selling them?! If they are then the deals would be pretty good, I'd think.
Anything that has to do with winter will be on sale this month. You mentioned winter apparel and snowblowers, but winter sporting goods (e.g. snowboards, skis) and winter appliances (e.g. heaters) will also be discounted during April.
Thanks Robert; good point!
I’m trying not to buy anything in April except for groceries. Money saving mode is on!
There you go! I can appreciate that!
