I stopped at a couple of yard sales after doing some highway cleanup with our Lions Club. I've gotten a lot more careful about buying stuff at yard sales because we already are running out of room for new stuff. When I do buy (for my wife anyway) I try to get things at a good enough price that if it's not really exactly what she needs or wants I won't feel bad if it goes out or if she passes it on.
For about $20 I scored a lot of craft stuff: fabric (10-12 yds), quilting stencils, templates for strip cutting, decorative trim, cotton batting, scrapbooking supplies like paper, stamps, and cut-outs.
I also found DVDs at that sale. I'm not a huge movie watcher and neither is my wife, but we did pick up a few for $3 each: Twister, Blues Brothers, The Muppet Movie, Deep Impact, Mystery Men, Men in Black, National Treasure, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (with Gene Wilder). This is better than we could do in a pawn shop.
I scored a nice yoga mat for $2 so I could be more comfortable working out with Wii Fit. At that same sale I found a couple of Pampered Chef stoneware baking dishes.
All in all, this wasn't too bad a draw, and my wife was happy with the quilting stencils since she had been looking for some recently now that she's discovered that she likes hand quilting.
Have you had any good finds at yard sales recently?
I like buying movies as well – cheaper than renting.
Books are another thing I look for.

While searching Craigslist Friday night, I found a garage sale a few blocks away that was promoting a Wii Fit, for $100. I woke up early, ran to the bank and was pulling up as the sellers were walking out of their garage. I walked away with a barely used Wii Fit for practically the same price as if I bought it in the store (assuming I could find one).
I recently got the board game Cranium for $1 at a yard sale. Score!
I have been losing weight so I needed to replace my work wardrobe. Two weekends ago, I got two work skirts($1 total), a Liz Claiborne winter type dress ($2). This past weekend we were at a sale (late) and they said "everything you can stuff into this plastic bag is $1" so I put a 2 slice toastmaster toaster (for a college student), a a pair of brown pumps, a necklace, a joke Christmas present (tennis racket clock), an antique camera (my husband collects these)and an old German precision calliper set. We were pretty happy with that haul!
