Every teacher has a favorite student, even if they won't admit it 😉
Grocery receipt apps let you turn your grocery receipts into a small amount of cash. (Information about purchasing habits is valuable to marketing companies and companies that sell consumer goods.)
The process is little more than this:
- Download the app and sign on
- Learn what kinds of purchases you can get credit for
- Select what you're buying
- Snap a picture of the receipt
- $ PROFIT! $
I currently scan some of my grocery receipts with six different apps:
There's nothing in the rules that I can find that prevents me from using more than one grocery receipt app. I just can't scan the same receipt twice in one app.
I like all of these grocery receipt apps, but one is my fave
Every teacher has a favorite student, even if they won't admit it to the rest of the class.
Of the six mentioned above, Fetch is my favorite. Here's why:
The Fetch grocery receipt app is fun
Granted, apps don't need to be fun. My job isn't always fun. But if it puts money in my pocket, that's usually enough for me.
Getting treated to a spirited animation on Fetch each time I submit a receipt, with laughing and hijinks … that's extra and gives me that little dopamine rush to keep using it.
Fetch doesn't pester you for information
One of the other apps in the list has me answer questions every time I submit a receipt.
Stuff like who went shopping with me, whether I have pets, or what kind of home projects I'm going to do this year.
Um, ok, I guess … but I'd be happier not having these questions slow me down before I get on to the next app.
Fetch doesn't do this. I get the happy animation and then I'm done. Boom, thanks!
Fetch doesn't make you select your deals
I've made nearly $500 with Ibotta. To get there, though, I've had to do a bit of work. I need to select the deals that I'm claiming on my receipt before I submit it. This does take time and a lot of scrolling.
(With some stores, I need to select the items in Ibotta before I pay for them because they're tied to my shopper's card. At least with Walmart, I can select items afterward if I forgot something.)
Lately, I've just been jumping to the “Any Item” section and selecting the receipt. Scrolling and looking through all of the items Ibotta has to offer takes a good 15 minutes, and that's just looking things over quickly.
With Fetch, though, I don't need to identify anything on my receipt. I scan the receipt, and Fetch matches every item that is worth something automatically. If I wanted to, I could look through everything to get more back, but it's nice not needing to.
Fetch is easy to use
At one time I downloaded another grocery receipt app (not one on the list above), and never was able to scan a receipt successfully. It was so fussy about lining up the edges of the receipt from one picture to the next, it just kept rejecting my submissions.
None of the apps in the list are difficult to use, to be fair, but Fetch is exceptionally easy. Very low friction.
