I use cash-back rebate sites for my purchases whenever it makes sense. After getting a free account at these sites, it's only 30 seconds or so to save a few bucks — or even lots of bucks! — at thousands of online stores.

Dollar Dig is a cash-back rebate site

One of a number of rebate sites that's been around for over a decade is Dollar Dig.

Using Dollar Dig is simple:

  • Sign up for a Dollar Dig account, which is completely free.
  • Log into Dollar Dig before you shop online.
  • If Dollar Dig offers cash back on some purchases from the store you're going to buy from, go to that store through the link on Dollar Dig instead of typing it in your browser.

That is it! It's that simple to start building up rebates.

How it works behind the scenes

Dollar Dig has to get its money from somewhere to pay you your rebates. I know for an absolute certain that the money doesn't come straight out of the website owner's pocket. The About Page is short and sweet and gets to this point in the first sentence:

DollarDig, LLC is a small business owned by one guy – a frugal one at that.

(Note: when I wrote this post originally, he used the word cheap instead of frugal. The word frugal is way more accurate so kudos to him!)

Anyway … the quick answer as to where your rebate money comes from is that the store you bought from awards a commission to Dollar Dig for sending them your business. Once that happens, Dollar Dig shares part of that commission with you in the form of a rebate.

Should you play one rebate site against another one?

As I mentioned before, there are quite a few sites similar to Dollar Dig, and they compete with one another for your clickthroughs.

Helping people spend less money is big business, and the more competitive ones will adjust their rebate percentages to snag more business. This goes on constantly, so it's very unlikely that any particular rebate site will always have the best rebates all the time.

There are comparison engines out there that monitor dozens of these sites and publish a ranked list of rebates for each store.

However, all of these rebate sites have their individual payout thresholds. Picking the best rebate each time you shop may result in a bunch of balances locked up in different rebate sites.

So in the end it may be simpler to pick just one rebate site and use that one, even if the percentages aren't always the best. And I see no reason why that one site can't be Dollar Dig.

Signing up for Dollar Dig is free

Dollar Dig has been in business since 2013.  The minimum payout amount is $25.  There are thousands of stores with rebates available on Dollar Dig, and of course, it costs nothing to cash in on these rebates.

So sign up for Dollar Dig and start earning cashback for your purchases!
